Sunday Night Football Flex Scheduling Watch: Number of Primetime Appearances Per Team for the 2022 Season

Here are each team’s current number of appearances across the league’s three major primetime packages on NBC, ESPN, and Amazon Prime Video for the season, useful for determining what games can be flexed into or out of Sunday night for my Flex Schedule Watch. Recall the appearance limits are six primetime games for three teams, five for everyone else, and four NBC appearances, three of which can be scheduled before the season starts; while the new TV deals taking full effect next year include a seventh primetime appearance for each team, several features following this year’s schedule release indicated that for this year, teams are considered “maxed out” after five primetime appearances scheduled before the season. This also means that, since the Packers last year were scheduled for six primetime appearances if you counted their Christmas Day game against the Browns on Fox and NFL Network, and coupled with evidence from seasons past that international games in the late morning window don’t count towards primetime appearances, I’m only counting actual primetime appearances for each team, and not counting any appearances on NFL Network for international or Saturday games, though I am counting the NFLN game the night of Christmas Eve. In the “Flexible” column, a plus sign indicates SNF games in the Week 5-10 early flex period. Note that despite Christmas falling on a Sunday and therefore not able to be flexed, NBC’s press release indicates that the late flex period starts Week 11 this year, not Week 10 as in past years when the Week 16 Sunday night game was rendered unable to be flexed due to Christmas; the Chargers and Niners have an asterisk in their Flexible column in case that’s a typo.

  1. One thing I do think the NFL should have considered was instead of playing a full schedule on Christmas Eve (Saturday 12/24), the NFL did that on MONDAY (12/26) which because Christmas falls on a Sunday is the LEGAL holiday for Christmas and most people have that day off.

The main reason I suspect that did not happen was the fact there IS a Week 17 Thursday nighter on Amazon Prime (Cowboys at Titans) that might very well have prevented having most of the games on Monday as whoever was scheduled for that Thursday night would have had to play Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Perhaps in future years one of the London games can be on Black Friday with a 2:00 PM ET/7:00 PM local kickoff that can be done on Amazon Prime in place of the Week 17 Thursday nighter that falls in the middle of college football bowl season. I also suspect the NFL didn’t try to put additional games on Monday 12/26 because even though the NFL is the 800-pound gorilla of sports AND it’s legal holiday for Christmas, the station managers of many FOX affiliates would have vehemently objected here due to contractual commitments with weekday syndicated programming that already for many such affiliates is going to be pre-empted several times during November and December for matches in the 2022 World Cup (this normally would not be an issue because the World Cup occurs after most such shows go into repeats for the summer, but even though that Monday would also likely be repeats, that entire week for many such shows will likely be re-airs of shows that were pre-empted by many FOX stations during the World Cup). I would have gone Monday 12/26 with most games to have a rare Monday Night flex for ESPN/ABC in where they and NOT NBC would have had the flex that week with the bulk of games on Monday.

Also was very surprised there is going to be a Monday night game on January 2, which is the LEGAL holiday for New Year’s Day because that also is on a Sunday. I would have thought the Tournament of Roses and Sugar Bowl committees would have both fought tooth-and-nail against the NFL having a Monday night game that week because of their traditions and have had for many years the Sugar Bowl follow the Rose Bowl (with the NFL instead giving ESPN a Friday night game in Week 15 in lieu of a Week 17 Monday nighter). I suspect here the NFL “strongly suggested” to the Sugar Bowl and College Football Playoff Committees they move that game to 11:00 AM local time (Noon ET) New Year’s Eve (i.e.: Move it or we’ll see you in court). This will be very interesting in 2024 because New Year’s Day is on a Monday then and it would be the Rose and Sugar Bowl’s turn to host the semifinals of the CFP (and especially important for the Rose Bowl since the last time it was those bowl games turn to host such, they had to play the Rose Bowl Game at “Jerry World” because the state of California due to COVID would not let them have fans in attendance. The NFL may very well for the 2023-’24 season have to yield New Year’s Day to the Rose and Sugar Bowls (the Rose Bowl won’t move and I doubt the College Football Playoff committee wants to have to have the Sugar Bowl as a playoff semifinal start while the Tournament of Roses Parade (which airs on basically ALL of the networks) is going on New Year’s morning and give ESPN it’s MNF game that week on Friday or give ESPN/ABC an extra game on an earlier week during that season to compensate for no MNF game New Year’s Night (or, the NFL can push the entire 2023-’24 season back a week and have New Year’s weekend be Week 16 with ESPN getting an MNF doubleheader in Week 17 to make up).

A lot of stuff behind this schedule.

  2. Adding:

You have to wonder with the NFL now having three games on Christmas Day, would the NBA move their traditional Christmas Day games to the next day since Monday, December 26 as noted is actually the LEGAL holiday for Christmas this year. That would have the first three games on Christmas Day not opposite the NFL (perhaps with Monday Night Football moved that week to ABC only and airing following what would be on ABC an NBA Tripleheader at Noon, 2:30 and 5:00 PM ET and ESPN doing the 8:00 and 10:30 PM ET slots that night.

  3. Speaking of Sunday night football flexing games of next season, currently Packers have 5 primetime games and MN Vikings have two of them, but if both teams have a good record and battle for the NFC North title next season, I could see NFL week 17 Vikings vs. Packers at Lambeau Field being flexed out of 3:25 pm CBS and flex that matchup at Lambeau Field week 17 Sunday Night Football NBC for the playoff implications in order to battle the NFC North Title between the MN Vikings and the Green Bay Packers.

  4. Hello everyone and Happy Football season!!! I will start making my projections here after this week’s Week 2 slate of games.

And as always, Go Pack Go!!!

  5. Hello NFL SNF Flex Scheduling lovers,

Here’s my take on things after Week 2.

    Week 5 – scheduled game is: Cin.(0-2) @ Balt.(1-1)

    My choices so far:

    #1 – Pitt.(1-1) @ Buff.(2-0)
    #2 – Phil.(2-0) @ Ariz.(1-1)
    #3 – Mia.(2-0) @ N.Y.J.(1-1)
    #4 – Dal.(1-1) @ L.A.R.(1-1)
    #5 – L.A.C.(1-1) @ Clev.(1-1)
    #6 – Chi.(1-1) @ Minn.(1-1)
    #7 – Sea.(1-1) @ N.O.(1-1)
    #8 – Det.(1-1) @ N.E.(1-1)

If the Bengals lose this week at the Jets, then it’s possible the tentative gets flexed, but I still doubt that it will be flexed out. Don’t think we’ve ever had a Week 5 SNF game flexed out since that’s been possible.

    Week 6 – scheduled game is: Dal.(1-1) @ Phil.(2-0)

    My choices so far:

    #1 – Buff.(2-0) @ K.C.(2-0)
    #2 – Dal.(1-1) @ Phil.(2-0)
    #3 – T.B.(2-0) @ Pitt.(1-1)
    #4 – Minn.(1-1) @ Mia.(2-0)
    #5 – Balt.(1-1) @ N.Y.G.(2-0)
    #6 – N.E.(1-1) @ Clev.(1-1)
    #7 – Ariz.(1-1) @ Sea.(1-1)
    #8 – N.Y.J.(1-1) @ G.B.(1-1)

The tentative will stay 100% guaranteed, but it would be awesome to see the Bills/Chiefs matchup back on SNF.

    Week 7 – scheduled game is: Pitt.(1-1) @ Mia.(2-0) <—likely to stay

    Week 8 – scheduled game is: G.B.(1-1) @ Buff.(2-0) <—very likely to stay

    Week 9 – scheduled game is: Tenn.(0-2) @ K.C.(2-0) <—If Titans keep losing,,,,

    Week 10 – scheduled game is: L.A.C.(1-1) @ S.F.(1-1) <—likely to stay

    Main Flex period:

    Week 11 – scheduled game is: Cin.(0-2) @ Pitt.(1-1) <—no lock to stay

    Week 12 – scheduled game is: G.B.(1-1) @ Phil.(2-0) <—bout 100% this stays

Week 13 – scheduled game is: Ind.(0-1-1) @ Dal.(1-1) <—likely to stay unless Colts doom the matchup….though Cowboys are without Dak and can Rush make them win?

Week 14 – scheduled game is: K.C.(2-0) @ Den.(1-1) <—this matchup was in Primetime both times last year and is likely to stay

    Week 15 – scheduled game is: N.E.(1-1) @ L.V.(0-2) <—will the Raiders ruin Belichick/McDaniels matchup?

Week 16 – scheduled game is: T.B.(2-0) @ Ariz.(1-1) – can't be flexed, as it's set in stone due to being on Christmas

    Week 17 – scheduled game is: L.A.R.(1-1) @ L.AC.(1-1) <—likely to stay

Week 18 – no scheduled SNF game and 2 games moving to Saturday

    N.E.(1-1) @ Buff.(2-0)
    N.Y.J.(1-1) @ Mia.(2-0)
    Balt.(1-1) @ Cin.(0-2)
    Clev.(1-1) @ Pitt.(1-1)
    Hou.(0-1-1) @ Ind.(0-1-1)
    Tenn.(0-2) @ Jack.(1-1)
    L.A.C.(1-1) @ Den.(1-1)
    K.C.(2-0) @ L.V.(0-2)
    N.Y.G.(2-0) @ Phil.(2-0)
    Dal.(1-1) @ Wash.(1-1)
    Minn.(1-1) @ Chi.(1-1)
    Det.(1-1) @ G.B.(1-1)
    T.B.(2-0) @ Atl.(0-2)
    Car.(0-2) @ N.O.(1-1)
    Ariz.(1-1) @ S.F.(1-1)
    L.A.R.(1-1) @ Sea.(1-1)

Too early to comment on anything for Week 18 yet.

  6. Jeff:

Week 5 is likely to stay. Even if the Bengals are 0-4 after Week 4, no one is going to be running away with the AFC North and it’s quite possible 9-8 may win that division the way things are going.

The only way DAL-PHI in week 6 is moved off Sunday Night Football would be if the Phillies are playing a National League Division Series game at home and MLB’s contract with FOX/TBS requires it to be in prime time no matter what and Major League Baseball informs the NFL they need everything cleared so that game can take place with a 7:30 or 8:00 PM first pitch and require DAL-PHI be moved off SNF for that specific reason.

    Weeks 7-8 I agree on.

Week 9 will depend on what happens with the Titans, who clearly are in rebuilding mode, Ironically, the game most likely to be moved if that happened as of now would be Raiders-Jaguars, especially if the Jags continue to play decent football. 6-10-1 or 7-10 may be good enough to win the AFC South.

Week 10 likely stays no matter what.

Week 11 will likely depend on how weak the AFC North is (again, that division likely to have no one running away with it).

Weeks 12-17 are too early to tell.

As I noted above, I wonder if the NFL didn’t want to have the bulk of the Week 16 games on Monday 12/26 (LEGAL holiday for Christmas Day) because they have a Thursday night game on Thursday 12/29 or the station managers of FOX affiliates vehemently objected to the games being Monday because of weekday syndicated programming that already is scheduled to be pre-empted multiple times in November and December for World Cup matches with the week of Dec. 26-30 being re-airs of shows pre-empted during the World Cup. Going Monday 12/26 with the full slate would have allowed for a Monday night flex on ESPN/ABC in Week 16.

  7. Hello NFL SNF Flex Scheduling lovers,

Here’s my take on things after Week 3.

    Week 5 – scheduled game is: Cin.(1-2) @ Balt.(2-1)

    My final choices are:

    #1 – Dal.(2-1) @ L.A.R.(2-1)
    #6 – Chi.(2-1) @ Minn.(2-1)

I am sure that the tentative will stay, especially after the Bengals won in Week 3. The only reason I don’t rank it, as because I only rank games with both teams at .500 or above.

    Week 6 – scheduled game is: Dal.(2-1) @ Phil.(3-0)

    My choices so far:

    #1 – Dal.(2-1) @ Phil.(3-0)
    #2 – Minn.(2-1) @ Mia.(3-0)
    #3 – Buff.(2-1) @ K.C.(2-1)
    #4 – Balt.(2-1) @ N.Y.G.(2-1)
    #5 – Jack.(2-1) @ Ind.(1-1-1)

The tentative will stay 100% guaranteed, no matter what happens in Week 4

    Week 7 – scheduled game is: Pitt.(1-2) @ Mia.(3-0)

    My choices so far:

    #1 – Clev.(2-1) @ Balt.(2-1)
    #2 – N.Y.G.(2-1) @ Jack.(2-1)

The scheduled will likely stay due to the Steelers being the Steelers, but if they lose in Week 4 (Jets) and Week 5 (Bills), you never know. Though the Dolphins haven’t been on SNF in so long, that it’s doubtful the NFL screws them here.

    Week 8 – scheduled game is: G.B.(2-1) @ Buff.(2-1) <—very likely to stay

    Week 9 – scheduled game is: Tenn.(1-2) @ K.C.(2-1) <—very likely to stay

Week 10 – scheduled game is: L.A.C.(1-2) @ S.F.(1-2) <—likely to stay, unless the Chargers go on a prolonged losing streak.

    Main Flex period:

    Week 11 – scheduled game is: Cin.(1-2) @ Pitt.(1-2) <—still no lock to stay

    Week 12 – scheduled game is: G.B.(2-1) @ Phil.(3-0) <—100% this stays

    Week 13 – scheduled game is: Ind.(1-1-1) @ Dal.(2-1) <—likely to stay

Week 14 – scheduled game is: K.C.(2-1) @ Den.(2-1) <—this matchup was in Primetime both times last year and is likely to stay

Week 15 – scheduled game is: N.E.(1-2) @ L.V.(0-3) <—will the Raiders ruin Belichick/McDaniels matchup?…..this week's Raiders loss puts this in early jeopardy

Week 16 – scheduled game is: T.B.(2-1) @ Ariz.(1-2) – can't be flexed, as it's set in stone due to being on Christmas

Week 17 – scheduled game is: L.A.R.(2-1) @ L.AC.(1-2) <—likely to stay, unless the Chargers fall apart with a compromised Justin Herbert

Week 18 – no scheduled SNF game and 2 games moving to Saturday

    N.E.(1-2) @ Buff.(2-1)
    N.Y.J.(1-2) @ Mia.(3-0)
    Balt.(2-1) @ Cin.(1-2)
    Clev.(2-1) @ Pitt.(1-2)
    Hou.(0-2-1) @ Ind.(1-1-1)
    Tenn.(1-2) @ Jack.(2-1)
    L.A.C.(1-2) @ Den.(2-1)
    K.C.(2-1) @ L.V.(0-3)
    N.Y.G.(2-1) @ Phil.(3-0)
    Dal.(2-1) @ Wash.(1-2)
    Minn.(2-1) @ Chi.(2-1)
    Det.(1-2) @ G.B.(2-1)
    T.B.(2-1) @ Atl.(1-2)
    Car.(1-2) @ N.O.(1-2)
    Ariz.(1-2) @ S.F.(1-2)
    L.A.R.(2-1) @ Sea.(1-2)

Too early to comment on anything for Week 18 yet.

Go Pack Go at Lambeau vs the Patriots this week!

  8. Hi, Jeff. I’m pretty confident both games on week 8 Packers vs. Buffalo Bills at Buffalo, New York and Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles at Philadelphia on week 12 stays on SNF. If the chargers falls apart and miss the playoffs before week 17, I could see Vikings vs. Packers at Lambeau Field get flexed to SNF in order to decide the NFC North Division title on week 17.

  9. Hi Brian. Time will tell for sure. I agree on Week’s 8 and 12 and as for Week 17, we’ll see how things come along. Could be that the Pack are maxed out by that point.

A little footnote about Week 18 and 2 games moving to Saturday. Buffalo and Cincinnati play on Monday Night Football in Week 17 and based on last year’s precedence, that means that they won’t be able to play on Saturday in Week 18 and that likely means that there’s some chance that the other AFC East and AFC North matchups in Week 18 won’t move to Saturday either. Lots of time to go before that though. 🙂

  10. Week 4 will be over after Monday night. Clearly, any and all week 5 games wont be flexed, with Tuesday being the dead line to make any changes to week 6. The Week 6 CBS double-header game is Bills-Chiefs and the SNF game is Cowboys-Eagles. Both are mortal locks, so there should be minimal, if any, changes to week 6.

  11. Hi, Jeff. Just to be clear with you, even though week 4 is almost over, I don’t see Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys game at Philadelphia on week 6 being flexed out of SNF because Philadelphia Eagles are on fire with 4-0 and Dallas Cowboys have been playing good football without Dak Prescott with 3-1 record. I could see Dolphins vs. Steelers game on week 7 get flexed out of SNF NBC this month because of Steelers poor record and the Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa out indefinitely with a concussion since nobody knows when Tua Tagovailoa will be back playing with his Dolphins team currently.

  12. Hi Brian…..those things you say are definite possibilities…..especially if the Steelers lose to Buffalo, which is very likely.

  13. Hello NFL SNF Flex Scheduling lovers,

Here’s my take on things after Week 4.

    Week 6 – scheduled game is: Dal.(3-1) @ Phil.(4-0)

    My choices so far:

    #1 – Dal.(3-1) @ Phil.(4-0)
    #2 – Buff.(3-1) @ K.C.(3-1)
    #3 – Minn.(3-1) @ Mia.(3-1)
    #4 – Balt.(2-2) @ N.Y.G.(3-1)
    #5 – N.Y.J.(2-2) @ G.B.(3-1)
    #6 – Ariz.(2-2) @ Sea.(2-2)
    #7 – S.F.(2-2) @ Atl.(2-2)

The tentative will stay 100% guaranteed.

    Week 7 – scheduled game is: Pitt.(1-3) @ Mia.(3-1)

    My choices so far:

    #1 – K.C.(3-1) @ S.F.(2-2)
    #2 – N.Y.G.(3-1) @ Jack.(2-2)
    #3 – Clev.(2-2) @ Balt.(2-2)
    #4 – Sea.(2-2) @ L.A.C.(2-2)
    #5 – N.Y.J.(2-2) @ Den.(2-2)
    #6 – Atl.(2-2) @ Cin.(2-2)

The scheduled game of Steelers/Dolphins looks to be in some serious jeopardy, especially since the Steelers are looking at falling to 1-4 vs. the Bills this coming week. However, due to KC maybe being maxed out already, that game vs. the 49ers might not even be able to be flexed in. Also, does the NFL really want to screw the Dolphins out of their 1st SNF game in eons. Likely stays due to a myriad of factors.

    Week 8 – scheduled game is: G.B.(3-1) @ Buff.(3-1)

    #1 – G.B.(3-1) @ Buff.(3-1)
    #2 – Ariz.(2-2) @ Minn.(3-1)
    #3 – Chi.(2-2) @ Dal.(3-1)
    #4 – N.Y.G.(3-1) @ Sea.(2-2)
    #5 – S.F.(2-2) @ L.A.R.(2-2)

The tentative game will stay the SNF game, no doubts.

    Week 9 – scheduled game is: Tenn.(2-2) @ K.C.(3-1) <—very likely to stay

    Week 10 – scheduled game is: L.A.C.(2-2) @ S.F.(2-2) <—very likely to stay

    Main Flex period:

Week 11 – scheduled game is: Cin.(2-2) @ Pitt.(1-3) <—looking shaky due to the Steelers

    Week 12 – scheduled game is: G.B.(3-1) @ Phil.(4-0) <—100% this stays

Week 13 – scheduled game is: Ind.(1-2-1) @ Dal.(3-1) <—likely to stay, but might look lopsided by the time the game gets here or can Frank Reich get the Colts predictable?

Week 14 – scheduled game is: K.C.(3-1) @ Den.(2-2) <—this matchup was in Primetime both times last year and is likely to stay

Week 15 – scheduled game is: N.E.(1-3) @ L.V.(1-3) <—will both teams be so bad and ruin the Belichick/McDaniels matchup?

Week 16 – scheduled game is: T.B.(2-2) @ Ariz.(2-2) – can't be flexed, as it's set in stone due to being on Christmas

    Week 17 – scheduled game is: L.A.R.(2-2) @ L.AC.(2-2) <—likely to stay

Week 18 – no scheduled SNF game and 2 games moving to Saturday

    N.E.(1-3) @ Buff.(3-1)
    N.Y.J.(2-2) @ Mia.(3-1)
    Balt.(2-2) @ Cin.(2-2)
    Clev.(2-2) @ Pitt.(1-3)
    Hou.(0-3-1) @ Ind.(1-2-1)
    Tenn.(2-2) @ Jack.(2-2)
    L.A.C.(2-2) @ Den.(2-2)
    K.C.(3-1) @ L.V.(1-3)
    N.Y.G.(3-1) @ Phil.(4-0)
    Dal.(3-1) @ Wash.(1-3)
    Minn.(3-1) @ Chi.(2-2)
    Det.(1-3) @ G.B.(3-1)
    T.B.(2-2) @ Atl.(2-2)
    Car.(1-3) @ N.O.(1-3)
    Ariz.(2-2) @ S.F.(2-2)
    L.A.R.(2-2) @ Sea.(2-2)

Still a bit too early to comment on anything for Week 18 yet, but it won't be for much longer.

Go Pack Go vs the Giants this week, across the pond!

  14. Hey Jeff,

While it is still way early, that Week 15 Patriots-Raiders game is looking mighty shakey. The one game I am currently eyeing for a potental flex that week, is Cowboys-Jaguars. Again, still early, but if both are still in playoff contention, it would be the perfect flex option. That week there will be a Saturday triple-header, so the current 5-game pool is off the table (including Dolphins-Bills and Ravens-Browns). CBS DH game that week is Bengals-Bucs, while Fox has Eagles-Bears early.

We shall see. Just something to keep an eye on.

  15. Howdy John,

That Week 15 game you mention between Dallas/Jacksonville will definitely be 1 to keep an eye on. Thanks for providing that insight and additional information. I hadn’t taken a look at any other the potential replacements yet, so that’s awesome information. 🙂

  16. Honestly, looking at this week, if the Steelers lose (likely), the Giants win (not that likely) and the Jaguars win (likely, against the Texans) we could see the Steelers-Dolphins game flexed out in favor of Giants-Jaguars. Not saying it will happen if all these results take place, but the Giants are in the NFL’s biggest market, even with them playing one of the smallest (then again, TLaw is turning into a marketable quarterback)

  17. Giants Jags is not Getting Flexed but it looks like it will be nothing for the most part but i could be wrong

  18. Will 49ers – Chiefs get flexed to Sunday night week 7? I don’t know who wants to watch a tua and tyreek free Dolphins team play Kenny pickett

  19. Hello NFL SNF Flex Scheduling lovers,

Here’s my take on things after Week 5.

    Week 7 – scheduled game is: Pitt.(1-4) @ Mia.(3-2)

    My choices so far:

    #1 – K.C.(4-1) @ S.F.(3-2)
    #2 – Ind,(2-2-1) @ Tenn.(3-2)

The scheduled game of Steelers/Dolphins would normally look to be in some serious jeopardy and Chiefs/49ers would be a great choice, but are Chiefs maxed out already? Colts/Titans looks pretty decent now too, but the NFL hates having the AFC South in Primetime. I say the NFL keeps the tentative, because of the Steelers name recognition and not wanting to screw the Dolphins out of their 1st SNF game in eons.

    Week 8 – scheduled game is: G.B.(3-2) @ Buff.(4-1)

    #1 – G.B.(3-1) @ Buff.(3-1)

The tentative game will stay the SNF game, no doubts. Especially since no other eligible Sunday game has a matchup of 2 teams at .500 and above.

    Week 9 – scheduled game is: Tenn.(3-2) @ K.C.(4-1)

    #1 – Tenn.(3-2) @ K.C.(4-1)
    #2 – Buff.(4-1) @ N.Y.J.(3-2)

The tentative looks to be going nowhere else on the NFL schedule.

    Week 10 – scheduled game is: L.A.C.(3-2) @ S.F.(3-2) <—very likely to stay

    Main Flex period:

Week 11 – scheduled game is: Cin.(2-3) @ Pitt.(1-4) <—looking extemely shaky due to the Steelers

    Week 12 – scheduled game is: G.B.(3-2) @ Phil.(5-0) <—100% this stays

Week 13 – scheduled game is: Ind.(2-2-1) @ Dal.(4-1) <—very likely to stay, especially with great 12-9 Colts OT win on Thursday Night Football over Broncos

Week 14 – scheduled game is: K.C.(4-1) @ Den.(2-3) <—this matchup was in Primetime both times last year and is likely to stay, but I sure hope not

Week 15 – scheduled game is: N.E.(2-3) @ L.V.(1-4) <—will both teams be so bad and ruin the Belichick/McDaniels matchup?

Week 16 – scheduled game is: T.B.(3-2) @ Ariz.(2-3) <—can't be flexed, as it's set in stone due to being on Christmas

    Week 17 – scheduled game is: L.A.R.(2-3) @ L.AC.(3-2) <—likely to stay

Week 18 – no scheduled SNF game and 2 games moving to Saturday

    N.E.(2-3) @ Buff.(4-1)

Still a bit too early to comment on anything for Week 18 yet, but it won't be for much longer.

Go Pack Go vs the Jets this week at Lambeau.

  20. My thoughts:

    NO CHANGES through Week 10:

Week 11: Bengals-Steelers could be flexed out as the Steelers could be 1-7 by the time this decision has to be made (Steelers have their bye in Week 9). We could see Chargers-Chiefs moved to SNF because CBS already has Cowboys-Vikings in the 4:25 PM ET slot and that is likely the game CBS protects that week. Normally, Jets-Pats would be possible but the Pats play on Thanksgiving night and the following Thursday.

Week 12: Even if the Pack falters, this is unlikely to be changed because there are no other suitable games to do it with.

Week 13: Not likely to change because the Colts as bad as they are likely to be in contention for the AFC South (where the winner could be 8-9 or worse) and again, no suitable replacement.

Week 14: Broncos have been a massive disappointment and I could see if the Giants continue to play like they are AND it’s not protected by FOX Eagles-Giants moved to SNF. Otherwise, Dolphins-Chargers, currently in 4:05 purgatory could be moved to SNF.

Week 15: Too early to tell. Pats-Raiders on shaky ground, however, and I could see Titans-Chargers be moved to SNF.

Week 16 doesn’t have a flex. This is where the NFL should have had the bulk of the games on Monday, December 26 (day after Christmas that is the actual legal holiday for such) though as noted I suspect the station managers of FOX affiliates objected to that due to their having numerous pre-emptions during the World Cup in November and December and the syndicators of shows that normally air on FOX stations in the daytime probably made clear they could not pre-empt for NFL games on 12/26 since the week of 12/26-30 likely is re-airs of shows that first aired during the World Cup pre-empted by FOX affiliates. Otherwise, it would have set up for ESPN/ABC to have a flex that Monday night.

Week 17: Rams-Chargers likely stays there almost no matter what because logistics and it being New Year’s Day likely make it next-to-impossible to do a flex.

Week 18: If Giants-Eagles is for the NFC East, THAT is the Sunday Night finale unless Cowboys-Commanders also matters. If both games matter towards the playoffs, I can see them being the two Saturday games on ESPN/ABC. Otherwise, too early to tell.

  21. It doesn’t look like Dolphins Steelers in week 7 will be flexed out of SNF, I think we would of heard something by now unless we will hear something by the end of the day. If the Jaguars had beaten the Texans on Sunday then Jaguars Giants would of been the obvious choice but that makes things more complicated now. Maybe Colts Titans but AFC South is not a ratings draw.

  22. You are right Robert Steelers Dolphins will stay SNF Game For Week 7 Becuase The Steelers like the Cowboys have a national following.
